Learning The
Community Sector Coalition
Community
Sector Coalition
is a UK umbrella network representing over 30 national membership
organisations that are active within the community sector.
Defra
(the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) has commissioned
several different projects to put this programme into action. The Federation for
Community Development Learning is involved in finding ways to skill up Community
Development Workers so they can encourage and support communities to contribute
to a more sustainable future for everyone. At the same time, other agencies are
developing a website to be full of useful material or working with the bigger
voluntary organisations to embed sustainable development in all their work.
One
Planet Living: If everyone in the world were to consume natural resources
and generate carbon dioxide (CO2) at the rate we do in the UK, we'd need three
planets to support us. Find out more about this concept from WWF.
Securing
the Future
is the Government's new sustainable development strategy. It highlights
ways in which communities and Government can work together to make
life better for the current and future generations. The strategy's
main priorities address issues such as tackling climate change,
sustainable consumption and production, protecting natural resources
and creating sustainable communities. The strategy aims to give
communities a much bigger say and a role in creating a more sustainable
future for us all.
