FCDL's Co-Chair, Dean T Huggins, signs the Third Sector Declaration on Climate ChangeSign up to the Third Sector Declaration on Climate Change

The Federation has signed up to the declaration on climate change. This is a commitment by Third Sector organisations to tackle the issue of climate change.

The Declaration was set up by Every Action Counts. The aim is for every Third Sector Organisation to take action in our organisations and in our communities.

Click here to read the Declaration in full and find out how your organisation can show its commitment to combating the effects of climate change.

Get involved in the wider Every Action Counts programme

Save energy, Travel wisely, Shop ethically, Save our resources, Care for your area

Find out what's going on in the Every Action Counts programme by visiting www.everyactioncounts.org.uk.

  • Discover how to become a Community Champion
  • Learn about the simple steps you can take to safeguard your environment
  • Community groups can register and monitor their progress using the website's 'evaluator'
  • VCS organisations are encouraged to develop their own 'Sustainable Development Action Plan'

Tell your success story

Do you or your group have a story to tell? What was your motivation for making a change? How did you do it? What lessons did you learn?

The programme is looking for case studies on sustainable living practices around the five EAC themes: Save Energy, Travel Wisely, Save Our Resources, Shop Ethically and Care For Your Area. They can involve several themes, or just concentrate on one, and if they involve some sort of social diversity aspect, all the better. They can be about individuals, groups, voluntary and community sector organisations, social enterprises, etc.

The case studies will be written up and displayed on www.everyactioncounts.org.uk, and some may be selected for further promotion in other EAC material, and possibly for audio and/or video case studies later on.

Please contact Steven Wong, Programme Officer at Capacity Global: email eac@capacity.org.uk or call 0203 117 0102, to share your experiences.

For inspirational examples of good practice, see the latest EAC publications: 'What Happens When Every Action Counts', 'Your Community Building Counts' and the green office guide 'Changing the Way We Work'. More free resources will be available from Every Action Counts soon.

Green Gauge is the monthly newsletter from Every Action Counts.

Sustainable Development Action Plan

The Federation has produced a Sustainable Development Action Plan to show how we are making progress towards improving our environmental performance. It also shows ow we are contributing to sustainable development and the long-term goal of 'one planet living'. Download our Action Plan here. The Action Plan is also available as a blank template, for you to adapt for your own use.

Find out about the history of our involvement with Every Action Counts

Our current work with Every Action Counts builds on the first phase of the project, which ran from September 2005 - March 2006, when we gathered information about trainers and programmes, in order to identify gaps in resources and courses in this area.
