NOCN
Resource Pack 3 This pack is designed to support the Community Development Work Group Work Skills National Open College Network (NOCN) unit at levels 2 and 3; it is an option unit at both levels. Working in groups is a key area of work for anyone involved in community development with its focus on collective action. Working in groups can be incredibly powerful when they work, and extremely frustrating when they don't. This programme offers an opportunity to look in detail at how groups work and how to make them more effective. It explores why people get involved in groups, the roles they take and the dynamics that develop when people come together. There are techniques for exploring and resolving conflicts within groups and for improving communications between group members. It examines the role of community development workers in enabling groups to decide their aims, ways they can organise effectively to meet their objectives, and how to set up sustainable and inclusive groups. |
