NOCN
Resource Pack 7 Unit:
Developing Community Organisations One of the key roles that community development workers often take on is to help people come together and to create new organisations. This programme examines the main elements involved in establishing an effective and sustainable organisation. It begins with the different techniques that can be used to enable a group/network to develop its vision and to check out it is needed, and then moves onto explore the range of organisational structures that are available and how to help a group choose the most appropriate one to meet its aims, and to be aware of the implications for them. The other elements
to an effective organisation that are covered include making meetings
effective; determining the people who are needed and their skills/knowledge;
the roles that people can take on; how to plan projects; how to establish
monitoring and evaluation system. The pack explores how to work with both
new groups and existing groups who need to rethink their organisational
structure and legal status.
