This pack supports an optional unit at Levels 2 and 3.

It takes a critical look at the interest of governments in partnerships and why they are being promoted. Different models of formal and informal partnerships and networks are examined.

The crucial issues for community groups thinking about becoming involved in, or setting up a partnership, are debated in some depth so that groups can make reasoned decisions whether to engage or not in partnerships as they become aware of the implications for themselves.

Different approaches and techniques that can be used to involve people and organisations in partnership working are explored. Issues of conflicts and tensions within partnerships are analysed and ways to tackle them are included - including ensuring that decision making and accountability systems are effective.
